Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, seeks an experienced MD/DO in Transfusion Medicine to lead the transfusion medicine division across MMC and connected hospitals. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Overseeing transfusion medicine and blood banking services at MMC and affiliated hospitals.
• Delivering complex transfusion consultations and overseeing apheresis procedures.
• Support and enhance patient blood management initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership, physicians and nursing to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Participate in medical student and resident teaching and in departmental conferences.
• Contribute to policy/procedure development and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Engage in transfusion-related quality initiatives and provide on-call/service coverage.

Transfusion Medicine Director

The Department of Pathology is seeking an experienced M.D. or M.D. / Ph.D. to join the Transfusion Medicine Division at Montefiore Medical Center and affiliate hospitals. Candidates must be board certified in CP or AP/CP and in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and have laboratory management experience.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing transfusion medicine and blood banking services at MMC and/or affiliated hospitals.
• Delivering complex transfusion consultations, overseeing apheresis procedures, and providing support for complex coagulation conditions.
• Supporting and enhancing patient blood management initiatives.
• Collaborating with institutional leadership, physician colleagues, and nursing teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Participating in the teaching of medical students and residents, as well as in departmental conferences and grand rounds.
• Contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.
• Participating in transfusion-related quality initiatives and process improvements.
• Providing on-call and service coverage.

Qualifications

• NYS medical license
• NYS CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology
• 3+ years post-fellowship experience strongly preferred
• Laboratory management experience in a multi-hospital system strongly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

The Division of Transfusion Medicine supports a broad range of MMC specialty services, including hematology and medical oncology, obstetrics and women’s health, bone marrow stem cell transplantation/cell therapy, solid organ transplantation, and a large comprehensive sickle cell disease program.
Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain New York State Certificates of Qualification for Medical Directorship. Academic appointment to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Annual salary is in the range of $250,000-$400,000 and is dependent on years of experience, including previous leadership roles.
