Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Medical Technologist/MLS for transfusion and core lab work in a full-time day shift in Illinois. Responsibilities include performing and reviewing tests, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting quality systems in a high-volume setting.

The role requires certification within 1 year (ASCP/AMT), strong communication, and ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• MT/MLS certification required or to be obtained within 1 year.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests according to protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and ensures proper reporting.
• Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots instruments and equipment.
• Monitors quality control and quality assurance for continuous improvement.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Provides training and guidance to staff and students as assigned.
• Supports compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
• Performs specialty testing across transfusion, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
• Delivers timely, accurate results to critical care departments during high acuity events.
