Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) seeks a skilled Transformer Repair Technician to perform service, diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance within the Power Management Division. You will dismantle, rewind, reassemble, test, and core iron repair on substations and transmission transformers, in-shop or on customer sites.

  • Proficient in service, diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance of transformers.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and specifications.
  • Experience with high voltage transformer testing and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, rewind, reassemble, test and core iron repair on transformers.
  • Inspect, test, repair, and report on various transformer types.
  • Work both in-shop and at customer sites; follow safety procedures.

IPS Transformer Repair Technicians demonstrate strong repair skills and commitment to providing an Unmatched Customer Experience.Dismantle, rewind, reassemble, test and core iron repair on large and medium substation/transmission class power transformersConduct work both in-shop and on customer sitesInspect, test, repair, investigate and report on various types of transformersPerform failure investigations, report findings, and recommend repairsEmploy test equipment and instruments that are required to perform preliminary, intermediate, and final testingWork safely alone and as part of a teamClosely adhere to all safety standards and proceduresEffectively contribute to a strong team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing mutual goalsQualifications and Competencies:Preferred not required - 2 years’ experience winding various types of transformer coilsPreferred not required - 2 years or more experience in high voltage transformer testing - HiPot, load-loss/no-load-loss, impedance, impulse, temperature rise, etc.Preferred not required - 3 years or more experience with substation class oil filled transformers in: untaking, gasketing, component change out, landing coils, tanking, testing, and vacuum oil processingPreferred not required - 2 or more years’ experience in transformer low voltage testing - insulation, resistance, turn-to-turn ration, and Doble power factor testingAble to read and interpret drawings/diagrams and specifications (electrical, mechanical and connection)Strong oral and written communication and analytical skillsAble to work with minimal direction or supervisionHave experience with health and safety programsAvailable and willing to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as required, willingness to be on callYou’ll thrive at IPS if you…Lead with integrity and prioritize safety.
