Job summary

ProSource Industries is seeking a Transformer Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering team in Grand Prairie, TX. You will design distribution and power transformers, select materials, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet performance, cost, and reliability targets.

The role requires 5+ years of transformer experience, knowledge of electromagnetic theory, thermal analysis, and proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of transformer design and manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic theory, thermal analysis, and mechanical design.
• Experience with CAD tools and electrical design software.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, UL standards.
• Hands-on experience in coil winding, core assembly, insulation, and vacuum/oil processing.

Responsibilities

• Design power transformers to meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements.
• Develop transformer specifications, drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform calculations for electrical losses, short circuit withstand, insulation levels, and temperature rise.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Evaluate and select core materials, windings, insulation, and cooling methods.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, UL standards.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of prototype and production units.
• Drive continuous improvement in transformer design and manufacturing techniques.
• Provide technical support for customers, sales, and field service teams.
