Job summary

Lansing School District is seeking a PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor to plan and lead safe, PT-guided riding lessons in line with PATH Intl. standards. You will assess participant needs, develop plans, supervise volunteers, and ensure horse welfare in a supportive, multiethnic setting.

Work closely with staff and families to help participants gain horsemanship, confidence, and independence while maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• PATH Intl. CTRI certification required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required (or willing to obtain).
• 3–5 years of horse experience required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate therapeutic riding services per pre-planned lesson plans.
• Oversee lesson preparation and cleanup.
• Review and maintain rider records per standards.
• Utilize horses under supervision of Program Manager and Arena Coordinator.
• Report horse issues promptly to the Herd and Barn Coordinator.
• Maintain orderly stalls, barns, equipment, and arena.
• Create a supportive, encouraging environment for staff, students, volunteers, and parents/guardians.
• Direct and empower volunteers to enhance participant experience.
• Ensure safety for volunteers, students, staff, and horses.
