Job summary

Liberty Waste Solutions is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead the Apex Transfer Station in North Carolina. You will oversee daily operations, direct personnel, manage contractors, and ensure environmental compliance while driving safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in transfer station or similar operations.
• Experience operating heavy equipment in a production environment.
• Experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple work groups.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and NCDEQ regulations preferred.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily transfer station operations, ensuring safe, efficient movement and processing of materials.
• Supervise acceptance, inspection, sorting, loading, storage, and shipment of debris, yard waste, recyclables, and other materials.
• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, wheel loaders, crushers, grinders, screeners, water trucks, and other equipment.
• Back up Scale Attendant, weigh inbound/outbound vehicles, enter transactions, verify waste types, and provide customer service.
• Manage and oversee third-party contractors, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate contractor activities to maximize productivity with safe traffic flow.
• Maintain safe traffic patterns and clean, organized facilities with proper permits.
• Enforce all applicable safety regulations and SOPs, PTOs, environmental permits, and company policies.
• Coordinate inspections, corrective actions, maintenance, and housekeeping to maximize uptime.
• Lead daily team meetings, communicate priorities, safety topics, and production goals.
• Prepare incident investigations, safety reports, and regulatory documentation in a timely manner.
• Monitor operating expenses, assist with budgeting, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, professionalism, and safety.
