Summary

Operates Tractor hauling with the following types of Trailers: Walking Floors, End Dump, Flatbed, and Lowboys. This involves transporting Solid Waste or Recycling materials along specified routes from the Transfer Station to facilities such as Landfills, Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), Mills, or Special Handling Facilities.

Essential Job Functions

1. Safely drives the truck on route following Smith System Driving principles.
2. Provides courteous and efficient customer service in all refuse operations.
3. Maintains a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
4. Operates hydraulic and lift equipment on the vehicle.
5. Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines, including safety checks and DVIR documentation.
6. Maintains the cleanliness of the truck, including weekly washes and inspections under the hood and undercarriage.
7. Assists in clean-up of scattered refuse and moves/empts large trash bins using hydraulics.
8. Prepares and submits required reports and documents.
9. Ensures safety and proper operation of all persons working on the vehicle during routes.
10. Complies with all Department of Transportation and State requirements for operating commercial motor vehicles.

Qualifications

1. Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
2. At least 1 year of experience operating a CDL-required vehicle within the past 7 years.
3. Minimum age of 21.
4. Understanding of refuse collection policies, procedures, and DOT/state requirements.
5. Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction.
6. Ability to manipulate heavy equipment controls and follow routes.
7. Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds multiple times a day.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
• Ability to work long hours, up to 12 hours, in challenging environments.

Other Responsibilities

• Participation in training courses as assigned.
• Keeping up-to-date with technology used by Waste Pro.
• Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Availability to work during emergency situations.
