Job summary

Morrow County Oregon is seeking a Transfer Station Attendant to help manage recyclable materials and solid waste at our transfer station. You will operate loaders, forklifts, and other equipment while ensuring environmental and safety standards are met.

The role offers outdoor work, routine inspections, and participation in waste sorting and station upkeep. Prior heavy equipment experience and a commitment to safety are highly valued in this hands-on position.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts or similar machinery is preferred.
• Knowledge of solid waste management practices and landfill operations.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Mechanical knowledge or experience with material handling equipment is advantageous.
• Familiarity with safety regulations for sanitation and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport recyclable and solid waste materials.
• Assist with waste sorting, sanitation, and maintaining cleanliness of the transfer station area.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safety.
• Document activities and logs to ensure compliance with environmental standards and company policies.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE; report hazards promptly.
• Support outdoor work activities including truck operations and yard maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment such as loaders, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, and excavators to load, unload, and transport recyclable and solid waste materials.
• Manage recyclable materials handling processes in accordance with environmental compliance standards and hazardous materials regulations.
• Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure mechanical integrity and safety; conduct basic maintenance as needed.
• Assist with landfill management activities including waste sorting, sanitation efforts, and maintaining cleanliness of the transfer station area.
• Follow safety regulations diligently by using personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety protocols, and reporting hazards promptly.
• Support outdoor work activities such as garbage truck operations, heavy lifting, cleaning stations, and yard maintenance.
• Document operational activities accurately through logs and reports to ensure compliance with environmental standards and company policies.

Requirements
