Build a Stable Career with Road & Rail Services

Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable Transfer Operator to join our Baltimore team. Since 1987, we have provided safe, reliable, and efficient rail-related services throughout North America.

This is a hands-on outdoor position for someone who takes pride in working safely, supporting their team, and completing physically demanding work. Experience in construction, landscaping, warehousing, manufacturing, heavy equipment, agriculture, or industrial labor can provide a strong foundation for this role.

You do not need previous rail industry experience. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, follows directions, arrives ready to work, and wants the stability of a long-term career.

What You'll Do

As a Transfer Operator, you will safely transfer bulk materials between railcars and tank trucks using pumps, hoses, valves, and other industrial equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Connecting and disconnecting transfer hoses and equipment
  • Operating pumps, valves, and related systems
  • Inspecting equipment before and during product transfers
  • Climbing railcars and working at elevated heights
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment, including specialized protective gear when necessary
  • Monitoring transfers to help prevent spills, leaks, and product loss
  • Following company, customer, and environmental safety procedures
  • Communicating clearly with supervisors and other team members
  • Assisting with general site and equipment maintenance as needed

Every Transfer Operator plays an important role in protecting the team, the customer, the environment, and the products being handled.

What We're Looking For

A successful candidate will be:

  • Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Able to climb, bend, stand, walk, and work around industrial equipment
  • Willing to work at heights and wear required fall-protection equipment
  • Dependable and able to report to work on time each day
  • Safety-focused and able to follow detailed procedures
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to learn new equipment, processes, and safety requirements
  • Interested in stable, long-term employment

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for this position.

What We Offer

When you join Road & Rail Services as a Transfer Operator, you will receive:

  • Starting pay of $20.00 per hour
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid holidays and vacation
  • Annual steel-toed boot allowance
  • Company-provided personal protective equipment
  • Training and opportunities for advancement
  • A team-oriented environment that values safety and accountability

Road & Rail Services is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
