Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Bridgeport, CT. Local home daily with a Monday–Friday schedule and starting pay of $28.00 per hour, weekly pay and comprehensive benefits after 30 days.

You will operate well-maintained trucks, complete DOT safety requirements, and participate in ERA programs. The role includes non-touch freight, shifting, and routine vehicle maintenance tasks as part of a typical driver’s day.

Qualifications

• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle.
• 3 options for experience: 9 months in past 3 years, 2 years in last 5 years, or 5 years in last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle and requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service.
• Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws, detecting and addressing safety hazards, and maintaining accurate records and logs.

• Driver Positions Pay Weekly
• Hourly Pay: $28.00 Per Hour
• Home Time: Local - Home Daily
• Schedule: Monday - Friday
• Start Time: Between 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

• Route: Shuttle Equipment between Ryder Customer Facilities
• Freight:No Touch - Empty Trailers for Equipment Shuttle Transfer Movement
• Additional duties include fueling trucks, cleaning/maintaining shop area
• MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
• 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
• 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
• 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
