Job summary

Shady Grove Medical Center, part of Adventist HealthCare, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Transfer Center in Rockville, MD. 12 hrs/week, daytime shifts, with a focus on patient education and interfacility transfers.

The role requires an RN with Maryland license, BLS (and ACLS/PALS/NRP as required by area), and at least 1 year of RN experience. This faith-based organization emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based care and professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Passing score on NCLEX.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Current Maryland State nursing license.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by specialty area - not needed for transfer unit.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and family through the continuum of care while also advancing their knowledge through guidance from senior nurses and the Clinical Nurse Manager.
• Serve as role models to Level I nurses and use electronic resources to support best practices in patient care.
• Demonstrate professionalism, adhere to ANA standards of practice, and exemplify Adventist HealthCare values.
• Develop a plan of care according to patient population and respond to changes in condition.
• Mentor students, colleagues and team members in patient-centered care and conduct purposeful rounding from patient and family perspectives.
• Facilitate interfacility patient transfers and enter orders in the system.
