Job summary

Atlanta International School (AIS) in Atlanta, Georgia, seeks a long-term substitute Teaching Assistant for the Primary School PYP program. The role supports a full-time lead teacher in delivering inquiry-based, transdisciplinary lessons in a multicultural, multilingual setting.

Start date October 19, 2026; rolling applications and 40-hour work weeks. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of experience with children, English proficiency, and a collaborative, restorative approach to classroom

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience working with children.
• Proficiency in English required; additional language skills (Spanish, French, German, or Chinese) preferred.
• Enthusiastic about teaching in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Restorative Practices and/or Responsive Classroom preferred.
• Training and experience in a Primary School setting are preferable.
• Experience with IB PYP is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and co-teach with the lead teacher.
• Differentiate instruction for learner variability, including small groups and individuals.
• Foster a restorative, inclusive classroom environment where all voices are valued.
• Support dual-language learning with varied instruction across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Establish clear routines and a proactive classroom culture.
• Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons to inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
