Transaction Banking

We aim to build a modern and digital-first cash management solution to serve our clients. Our business combines the strength, heritage, and expertise of a 150-year-old firm with the agility and entrepreneurial spirit of a tech start-up. Our goal is to provide a best-in-class digital product that helps clients succeed by giving them a holistic view of their business. Through modern technology built on the cloud, we are an alternative to legacy platforms. We’re a team of diverse experts helping our clients build the future of their Treasury.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced design leader to oversee the design practice and strategy for our Transaction Banking digital product ecosystem—comprising client-facing web, mobile, and API channels, as well as complex internal financial systems used daily by our bankers. This role will drive business impact through design advocacy, strategy, vision, and education across all teams and products in TxB. The candidate will bring a design perspective to business conversations and help interpret how design decisions influence business outcomes.

The ideal candidate understands how to set a strategic vision while managing phased implementation. They can differentiate between concepts like design system, interaction design, service design, and visual design, and communicate these distinctions effectively across organizational levels. They are passionate about creating thoughtful, modern digital products for diverse users, uphold high quality standards, and foster an inclusive, growth-oriented design environment.

Applicants should include a link to their online portfolio or attach work samples when applying.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  1. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to drive design strategies from research through development.
  2. Develop research functions to define, guide, and analyze client insights, uncovering breakthrough opportunities.
  3. Continuously research market, industry, and landscape trends to identify UX enhancements.
  4. Lead high-level discussions with Product Managers and Tech Leads to integrate design considerations into product development.
  5. Collaborate across teams and divisions to meet diverse business objectives.
  6. Establish repeatable processes to integrate design effectively at appropriate stages.
  7. Conceptualize, prototype, and test prioritized opportunities with necessary support.
  8. Build relationships with business stakeholders to facilitate discovery and design activities.
  9. Oversee the design team, ensuring quality and consistency of deliverables.
  10. Manage design workload, negotiate engagements, and communicate timelines and dependencies to leadership.
  11. Support the growth of team members’ skills, balancing push and pull for career development.
  12. Recruit design talent at all levels and manage design operations infrastructure.
  13. Maintain and support the design system, ensuring consistency, reusability, and scalability.
  14. Contribute to the evolution of our design language, interaction patterns, and component libraries.
  15. Promote ongoing education and the strategic impact of design within the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing digital products in Product, Interaction, Service, or related design roles.
  • At least 5 years leading design teams.
  • Experience scaling design teams with internal and external resources.
  • Excellent presentation, storytelling, workshop, and communication skills, comfortable engaging with senior leaders.
  • Deep understanding of system design, design thinking, service design, and visual design, with ability to prioritize appropriately.
  • Strong point-of-view on product design, questioning assumptions and proposing solutions.
  • Ownership mindset and advocacy for end-users.
  • Knowledge of design systems management and growth.
  • Proficiency with Figma for collaboration.
  • Proven track record of driving change and innovation.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Passion for digital trends and design excellence.
  • Ability to translate concepts into initiatives and roadmaps.
