The Department of Medicine is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego and employs 486+ full-time salaried faculty members and 100+ academic appointees. Staff personnel include 600+ staff in 9 bargaining units, students, and volunteers. There are 250 clinical faculty practicing at multiple sites.
Under the general supervision of the social work supervisor, the Trans Health Project (THP) Case Manager provides comprehensive, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and culturally responsive case management support services to Black and Latina transgender women, prioritizing participants enrolled in the THP initiative research project with UCSD. This position supports Black and Latina transgender women experiencing barriers to health care, HIV prevention and treatment services, housing stability, economic security, behavioral health services, and other social determinants of health.
Using a participant-centered and strengths-based approach, the THP Case Manager assists participants in identifying goals, advocating for their needs across systems of care, accessing gender-affirming services, and addressing barriers to overall health and well-being. The position provides care coordination, resource linkage, and service advocacy, while working collaboratively with community partners and research collaborators to support participant engagement, retention, and connection to services, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organizational, funder, and research requirements. The ideal candidate possesses experience working with transgender and BIPOC communities, demonstrates cultural humility and responsiveness, and has knowledge of the unique challenges impacting Black and Latina transgender women. Spanish-language proficiency is strongly preferred.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,078 - $83,019 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.21 - $39.76
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
