Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Trajectory Analysis Engineer (Starship) in the United States to join a team of engineers analyzing trajectories, iterating on mission objectives, and ensuring flight safety objectives are met in fast-paced environments.

You will analyze launch vehicle trajectories, develop flight plan solutions to enable mission objectives while maintaining safe vehicle operation, generate safety deliverables, and present trajectory analyses to internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering.
• 1+ years of experience with orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling and simulation.
• 1+ years of experience with Python or C++.

Responsibilities

• Analyze launch vehicle trajectories and vehicle performance in the presence of faults.
• Develop flight plan solutions to enable mission objectives while maintaining safe vehicle operation.
• Generate and submit flight safety deliverables.
• Produce and present trajectory analysis products for internal and external partners.
• Interface with internal operations, flight reliability, hardware teams, and regulatory partners such as the FAA.
• Engage in multidisciplinary vehicle systems investigations to motivate mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodologies.
• Develop and evaluate flight termination system mission rules.
• Support launch and mission operations of vehicles you enabled.
• Automate mission-to-mission trajectory analysis product generation.

SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. Trajectory Analysis Engineer (Starship) will work with a team of engineers to analyze trajectories, iterate on mission objectives, and ensure flight safety objectives are met in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze launch vehicle trajectories and vehicle performance in the presence of faults
• Develop flight plan solutions to enable mission objectives while maintaining safe vehicle operation
• Generate and submit flight safety deliverables
• Produce and present trajectory analysis products for internal and external partners
• Interface with internal operations, flight reliability, hardware teams, and external regulatory partners such as the FAA
• Engage in multidisciplinary vehicle systems investigations to motivate mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodologies
• Develop and evaluate flight termination system mission rules
• Support launch and mission operations of vehicles you enabled

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of experience with orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation
• 1+ years of experience with Python or C++

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems
• Ability to solve complex problems with little supervision as an individual or on a team
• Experience with system trades and understanding how requirements tie hardware to larger systems
• Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
