SpaceX is seeking a Trajectory Analysis Engineer to enable Starship missions through innovative trajectory analysis, modeling, and flight safety deliverables. The role emphasizes solving complex problems, rapid iteration, and engagement in mission design, with ITAR considerations and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years experience with orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation.
  • 1+ years experience with Python or C++.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze launch vehicle trajectories and performance in the presence of faults.
  • Find flight plan solutions to meet objectives while maintaining safe vehicle operation.
  • Generate and submit flight safety deliverables.
  • Produce trajectory analysis products for internal and external partners.
  • Interface with operations, reliability, hardware teams, and regulators such as the FAA.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations to motivate mission design, vehicle architecture, and analysis methodologies.
  • Develop and evaluate flight termination system mission rules.
  • Support launch and mission operations of vehicles that you enabled.
  • Conduct flight data review.
  • Automate mission‑to‑mission trajectory analysis product generation.
