Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming is seeking a Trainmaster to lead operations and ensure safety and efficiency across the assigned territory. You will oversee both the operational and administrative aspects of the department, building a strong team and interviewing, hiring, and training new members.

You’ll support development through performance reviews, coaching, and recognition, resolving challenges with fairness and professionalism in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in railroad with supervisory duties; 7+ years preferred.
• Certified as Locomotive Engineer or Conductor is a plus.
• Knowledge of FRA regulations.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Experience in safety-sensitive environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety performance, operating practices, and productivity.
• Interface with customers and partners; monitor service quality and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with peer managers across departments.
• Supervise train crew; manage schedules and payroll within budget.
• Directly supervise and develop the workforce; coach performance.
