The Role

Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to external new hires.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and administering the training for auto/semi auto structure welding
  • Administering classroom instruction
  • Maintaining the safety inspections for the equipment used in the above training
  • Ensuring the safety of the students assigned to the instructor
  • Overseeing testing in the instructor's AOR
Must Have

Bachelor's degree and 0 years of exempt experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • Apprentice School graduate
  • High School and 5 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • Graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School
Nice to Have

Any combination of the following:

  • Auto/ Semi Auto structure welding qualifications
  • Pipe welding experience
  • Weld VT qualified
