The Center for Behavior and Systems Innovation (CBSI), buildingupon the nationally recognized HANDS in Autism model established in2004, advances implementation of evidence-based practices throughtraining, consultation, systems innovation, resource development,and community-engaged research. The Center builds "local capacity"by partnering with autistic individuals, families, educators,healthcare providers, employers, community organizations, and stateagencies to improve outcomes across educational, healthcare,employment, justice, and community settings. Guided by thephilosophy that evidence-based practices are "Essential for autism,beneficial for all," CBSI develops practical tools, professionallearning opportunities, implementation supports, and resources thatstrengthen systems serving individuals with autism spectrumdisorder (ASD), neurodevelopmental disabilities, behavioral healthneeds, and broader communities. Through interdisciplinarycollaboration, implementation science, and responsive partnerships,the Center remains agile in addressing emerging community,statewide, national, and international needs while advancingIndiana University's missions of teaching, research, andservice.

Job Summary
Training Specialists within the Center for Behavior and SystemsInnovation (CBSI) serve as implementation specialists who buildupon the nationally recognized HANDS in Autism model to provideeducation, consultation, technical assistance, programming, andresource development that strengthen local capacity across Indianaand beyond.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Works alongside researchers, instructional designers, navigators, data specialists, operations staff, and communitypartners, they support implementation of evidence-based practicesacross educational, healthcare, employment, justice, and communitysettings.
- Through direct consultation, professional learning,implementation support, and development of practicalresources,
- Helps improve outcomes for autistic individuals and others withneurodevelopmental, behavioral, and mental health support needswhile advancing Indiana University's missions of teaching,research, and service.
- Designs, develops, and delivers professional learningopportunities, workshops, consultation, and technical assistancefor educators, families, providers, healthcare professionals,employers, and community organizations.
- Develops and updates evidence-based training materials,implementation resources, and educational tools responsive tocommunity and partner needs.
- Supports statewide, national, and international traininginitiatives that promote implementation of evidence-basedpractices.
- Contributes to newsletters, online learning communities,webinars, and outreach efforts that support dissemination of Centerresources and innovations.
- Conducts assessments, support action planning, facilitateimplementation, and monitor progress for individuals, collaborativesites, and community partners.
- Provides consultation, direct programming, implementationsupport, and resource navigation across educational, healthcare,employment, justice, and community settings.
- Supports Ask-Learn-Share offerings, Learning Labs,collaborative partnerships, and other Center initiatives thatstrengthen local capacity.
- Develops and updates practical tools, resource guides, andimplementation materials that support individuals across thelifespan.
- Maintains timely documentation, correspondence, andcommunication with caregivers, referral sources, providers, andinterdisciplinary project teams.
- Supports externally funded initiatives, implementationprojects, and community-engaged research activities.
- Collaborates with instructional designers, marketing andcommunications staff, navigators, operations staff, dataspecialists, and subject matter experts to develop, review, anddisseminate evidence-based resources.
- Reviews, catalogs, organizes, and continuously updates Centermaterials while maintaining an efficient registry and monitoringsystem that ensures resources remain current, accessible,appropriately formatted, version-controlled, and readily availableacross Center initiatives.
- Translates research findings into practical tools, educationalmaterials, and implementation supports that respond to emergingcommunity needs.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in assigned topical areas andcontribute ideas that strengthen Center programming, innovation,and sustainability.
- Completes required university and research compliancetrainings.
- Contributes to development and continuous improvement of Centerprocedures and standard operating practices.
- Assists with data collection, reporting, quality improvement,and evaluation activities.
- Supports pre-service student learning and interdisciplinarytraining opportunities.
- Maintains project timelines, calendars, communications, andcoordination across Center initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of Centerpriorities and strategic goals.
General Responsibilities
- Serves as liaison to key stakeholders in public and privatesectors on partnership opportunities advancing institutionalinitiatives.
- Initiates and maintains frequent interactions with relevantpartners ensuring strong collaborative relationships andfocus.
- Develops knowledge of issues and needs of initiatives,programs, and partners to make appropriate connections withuniversity and external resources.
- Serves as a community resource facilitating programs, providingtechnical assistance, and ensuring communication to optimizeproject outcomes.
- Collaborates with university and external partners to identifyfunding needs and potential sources; participates in developingexternal funding proposals with education and outreachcomponents.
- Communicates partner expectations with unit leadership toassist in operationalizing project outcomes; collaborates in thetimely delivery of logistical, budgetary, and supportfunctions.
- Determines and tracks key project metrics and assists inanalysis and report development.
- May provide guidance to lower-level Institutional AdvancementConsultants.
Qualifications
Combinations of related education and experience may beconsidered. Education beyond the minimum required may besubstituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimumrequired may be substituted for education.
Education
Required
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
Preferred
- Master's degree in special education, psychology, social work,behavior analysis, education, public health, human services, or arelated behavioral health or service field
Work Experience
Required
- 2 years experience in outreach, engagement, public relations,or related field.
Preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities orsupporting families, caregivers, educators, providers, or communityorganizations.
- Experience delivering professional development, consultation,technical assistance, or implementation support preferred.
- Experience working collaboratively across education,healthcare, behavioral health, employment, justice, or communitysystems.
- Experience supporting interdisciplinary or grant-fundedprojects.
Licenses and Certificates
Preferred
- Professional licensure or certification in an applicablediscipline (e.g., education, behavior analysis, social work) orlicense eligible, where applicable Upon Date of Hired.
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insuredby Indiana University Upon Date of Hire.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.
