Job summary

NLACRC is seeking a Training Specialist II to manage training transcripts, serve as an instructional designer, and support NSO onboarding. You will maintain the LMS front-end, collaborate with the LMS developer, and coordinate in-person trainings with other departments to optimize learner experiences.

Responsibilities include leading LMS administration, preparing KPI reports, and developing both online and in-person training materials aligned with agency initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of related training and LMS administrator experience.
  • Instructional Design Certification.
  • Training and Facilitation Certification or 2–5 years in training facilitation.

The Organization

North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.

Supervision

Receives general supervision from the Training and Development Supervisor.

The Position and Job Summary

The Training Specialist II maintains training transcripts for staff in accordance with strategic initiatives set by the Training and Development Supervisor. They actively participate as a trainer in new hire training and other assigned trainings. They maintain all facets of the Learning Management System including, but not limited to user experience, automation, and programming of course enrollments, branding, and record management. Additionally, they serve as an instructional designer, provide recommendations, and prepare analysis for strategic reports to the Training and Development Supervisor.

  • Available as a resource for the Training Specialist I as it relates to coordination of NLACRC trainings with trainers and staff. Provides additional support as needed.
  • Tracks NLACRC new staff progress through New Staff Orientation (NSO) learning paths and informs staff, supervisors and the Training and Development Supervisor as needed. Analyzes post-survey data to provide recommendations for upgrades to NSO courses, programs, and systems.
  • Participates as a trainer for NSO training protocols and other training initiatives as assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Maintains and updates the user interface for the Learning Management System (LMS) front-end to improve staff experience. Collaborates with the LMS developer to resolve technical issues related to LMS efficiencies.
  • Lead administrator of the LMS, training library, and various training platforms as assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Monitors and updates back-end functions of various LMS systems, standard operating procedures of the Training Unit, and other training processes as assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Maintains and updates the training library to ensure accurate information, current materials, and representation/communication of all training initiatives.
  • Acts as lead training specialist as it relates to the set up/breakdown of in-person training classes, and coordinates with other departments to support as necessary and assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Provides recommendations and conference room setup options to the Training and Development Supervisor to optimize learner and facilitator/trainer experience for in-person trainings.
  • Participates as an instructional designer for subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout the agency utilizing all aspects of the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Designs and develops eLearning and in-person training as assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Sources external trainings as assigned by the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Maintains library of approved training designs, templates, procedures, materials and provides recommendations for optimizations to the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Creates annual or bi-annual rollout schedule for all mandatory and Federal/State required trainings.
  • Prepares and maintains monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) report by analyzing raw data.
  • Prepares quarterly reports to support the strategic plan and performance contract requirements for submittal to the Training and Development Supervisor.
  • Responsible for and ensures timely completion of NSO learning paths during the onboarding process for staff.
  • Other projects as assigned. Overtime as needed.
  • Performs additional duties a needed.
Education and/or Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of related training and LMS administrator experience.
  • Instructional Design Certification.
  • Training and Facilitation Certification or 2- 5 years in training facilitation.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Proficient working with eLearning software. Articulate 360, preferred.
  • Proficient working with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

Compensation

This position is non-exempt, salaray range – $34.73 to $49.08
