Job summary

Wells Concrete seeks a Labor Trainer to guide and develop production employees in precast manufacturing. You will reinforce safety requirements, quality expectations, and proper use of tools, while working with leadership and the Safety team to promote best practices across the plant.

The role involves hands-on training, coaching, and maintaining training records to support employee growth and operational needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Labor Trainer teaches and guides production employees on how to manufacture precast concrete products safely and efficiently. This role ensures both new and current employees understand company policies, production standards, quality expectations, safety requirements, and the proper use of tools and equipment. Working closely with production leadership and the Safety team, the Labor Trainer provides hands-on training, reinforces best practices, and promotes consistent work habits across the plant.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Basic Responsibilities

• Train new and current employees on precast manufacturing processes, procedures, expectations, quality standards, inspection processes, and defect identification.

• Standardize work methods and recommend improvements related to productivity, quality, safety, and training.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to quality and safety

Safety Responsibilities

• Foster a safety-first culture by promoting employee accountability and leading by example.
• Ensure employees understand and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required safety training.
• Train employees on safe lifting techniques, material handling, rigging, and the proper use of tools and equipment.
• Reinforce the proper use of PPE, workplace housekeeping standards, and safe work practices throughout the facility.
• Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors, and promptly report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns to leadership.

Quality Responsibilities

• Ensure employees understand how workmanship impacts product quality and company standards.
• Train employees to identify, report, and correct quality defects.
• Reinforce the proper use of drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
• Promote consistency in production processes, quality expectations, and work methods across all shifts.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an experienced production professional who is passionate about developing others, promoting safe work practices, and driving quality results. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who leads by example, builds trust with employees at all experience levels, and is committed to creating a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and teamwork.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

Required

• 2-5 years of experience in precast concrete, concrete construction, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
• Proven ability to train, coach, and communicate effectively.
• Strong knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and understand production drawings, instructions, and specifications.
• Ability to work with employees of various experience levels and backgrounds.

Preferred

• Precast concrete manufacturing experience.
• Experience as a lead worker, trainer, foreman, supervisor, or crew leader.
• Experience with rebar, embeds, formwork, concrete placement, finishing, stripping, or product handling.
• OSHA or similar safety training.
• Familiarity with skills matrices, training checklists, or employee qualification systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
• Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
• Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
• Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
• Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
