Job description

Position Summary

This role reports to the Training Director and is responsible for assessing training needs, developing training materials, and delivering technical compressor training. The instructor will coordinate training requirements based on needs identified by the Operations department and align with employee growth objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design training classes and create training content based on input from various functions.
  • Stay current with changes to compressor technology, including electrical updates, panel updates, and mechanical updates due to ESG regulations and Kodiak initiatives.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert for specific compressor package components.
  • Identify technical training gaps throughout the organization and develop content to address those gaps.
  • Collaborate with an instructional designer to determine the best instructional approaches for each technical training class, integrating adult learning methods and hands‑on activities.
  • Research and implement new training methods and teaching techniques, and apply post‑training feedback to update content.
  • Develop technical assessments to ensure successful knowledge transfer and skill competency for each training class objective.
  • Maintain accurate completion records, attendance, and grading within the Kodiak LMS.
  • Maintain and manage training equipment.
  • Travel required 50‑75% of the time.
Education, Experience and Training
  • In‑depth knowledge of the oilfield and all aspects of compressor mechanics.
  • 5‑10 years of experience operating in the gas compression industry.
  • At least five years of proven experience as a technical trainer in the gas compression industry.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Education or related discipline is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills to streamline highly technical content.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience with e‑Learning and learning management systems.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm and patient demeanor; adaptable to various learning styles.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities.
