Overview

Accountability: Candidates will perform switching, equipment maintenance, rule compliance, and other duties to maintain efficient and safe switching operations. The work schedule is full-time with hours varying according to customer needs (operations are 24/7).

Responsibilities
  1. Operate switches and brakes to ensure safe train movement between tracks.
  2. Build trains by attaching and detaching freight cars, inspecting for rules compliance and order accuracy.
  3. Ensure safety by using proper PPE and being aware of surroundings.
  4. Operate company vehicles and equipment following safety practices.
  5. Maintain good customer relations through proper communication.
  6. Foster a positive work environment with colleagues.
  7. Maintain facility and equipment standards.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous railroad or industrial switching experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and equipment standards.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and machinery safely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Perform strenuous work in all weather conditions.
  • Stand, walk, climb, and balance regularly.
  • Lift up to 80 lbs and push/pull with up to 150 lbs of force.

This position requires working under supervision with limited discretion. It does not involve supervising others.
