We offer a 4x10 work schedule with either Monday's or Friday's off every week. This position may include some weekends and after-hours for City events. The level and pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
Most hires will come in at $19.00 unless you have a CDL, specific trails/parks experience or certifications relevant to the position.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance, upkeep and repair of city parks, open spaces, trail systems and facilities. Provides assistance to city sponsored events as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs maintenance of open space properties including but not limited to trail maintenance and construction, restoration projects, mowing, vegetation management, trash removal, and removal of graffiti and other vandalism.
Monitors and repairs open space facilities including fences, parking lots, restrooms, and other recreational areas.
Designs, installs and checks signs for accuracy, damage and fading, replace or clean as needed.
Weeds, trims and mows open spaces and trails.
Provides routine maintenance of vegetation and amenities, including use of hand and power tools, operation of equipment such as backhoe, large trucks, utility vehicles and mowers.
Performs all required special work duties during City sponsored events and recreational programs as needed.
- Assists in duties for the maintenance of city parks including weed control and garbage collection.
- Cleans concession stands, parking lots, restrooms and maintenance buildings including dumping of trash cans as needed.
- Performs maintenance and repair of outdoor restroom facilities, concession stands, pavilions, playgrounds, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, ball fields and other facilities.
- Assists in duties for the maintenance, collection of garbage, weed control, bush hogging and spraying of all city trail systems and open areas performed with work release personnel.
- Provides field and park preparation of baseball fields and arenas.
- Performs regular playground and other park equipment inspections to ensure safety and code compliance.
- Assists in snow removal around facilities.
- May be required to be a stand-by for an on-call rotation for the snow removal.
- Under supervision, may be required to work on city sprinkler systems.
- Performs all other duties as needed or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 1 year experience in park maintenance or lawn care or closely related area.
OR
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills to complete with the required job duties.
Preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
- Experience in Customer Service
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 18yrs old.
- Requires a valid Utah Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and driving record check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED
- May use motorized vehicles, light and heavy equipment, and hand tools.
WOK ENVIRONMENT
- Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking standing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, and reaching. Talking, hearing and seeing are essential to performing required job functions.
- Common eye, hand, finger dexterity must exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and ability to maintain composure in adverse situations
- Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions.
- Frequent local travel required in normal course of job performance.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
