Job summary

McGriff Tire TN 440 - Birmingham is seeking a mechanically inclined trailer repair technician for full‑time work in Birmingham, AL. The role covers brakes, electrical, tires, welding, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance, with DOT compliance as a key requirement.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and more than 75 lbs occasionally, pass a DOT physical, and have basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, ARC, MIG). ASE certifications are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined; prefer experience in semi-trailer repairs including brakes, electrical, tires, welding, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience in DOT inspections and general trailer repair is a plus.
• Clean MVR, pass DOT physical and drug test as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on trailing equipment per manufacturer and company schedules.
• Access all areas of equipment to perform needed maintenance on trailers and components.
• Conduct safety inspections and document safety compliance per DOT/OSHA/EPA requirements.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety; participate in company training programs.
• Follow company policies in all repairs and duties and ensure daily attendance.
