Job summary

Harrell’s LLC in Lakeland, FL seeks a Full-Time Trailer Maintenance Technician (Day Shift). You will perform preventative maintenance and repair of bulk trailers to meet DOT standards, and conduct daily trailer evaluations to ensure compliance and safety.

Requirements include 2+ years in trailer repair, a high school diploma, DOT brake certification, and forklift certification preferred. Welding is a plus; the role offers Day Shift with excellent benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance and repair of bulk trailers to meet DOT standards.
• Daily trailer evaluations using the Trailer Evaluation form.
• Adjust, repair, and replace brake components to ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain other trailer systems: suspension, frame, hopper, motor, hydraulics, air, electrical.
• Champion the Trailer Management Process and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Follow company policies and maintain required licenses/certifications.

• Adjust, repair, replace brake components as needed to maintain a safe and roadworthy trailer that complies with DOT regulations.
• Maintain and repair other trailer systems such as the suspension, frame elements, hopper elements, motor elements, hydraulic components, air system components, and electrical.
• Champion of the Trailer Management Process.
• Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position.
• Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs.
• Maintain valid licenses, certifications and/or permits required to perform responsibilities.

EDUCATION

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 2+ years of experience in trailer repair and maintenance
• Welding skill a plus.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
• Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach, and use arms to manipulate small objects.
• Mobility inside the plant – Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Work is routinely performed in a general warehouse environment on a concrete surface, with frequent exposure to both internal and external environment.
• Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
• Frequent exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Must wear steel-toed boots.
• Recommended: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire as noted by guides provided in specific areas. These will be provided by Harrell’s upon request.
• Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations.
