Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Technician II in Toledo, Ohio. The role performs intermediate maintenance and repairs on trailers, troubleshooting issues under supervision to ensure fleet readiness, and meeting JBHunt standards.

Starting pay range is $23.85–$35.75 per hour with shift from Sunday to Wednesday 6:00AM–4:30PM, and potential eligibility for annual bonus based on profitability or volumes. Benefits are provided for full-time employees.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with 2 years of semi-trailer maintenance/repair experience or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of DOT/FHWA inspections and air brake experience.
• Able to supply your own basic tools or via toolbox program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of preventive maintenance and repairs on trailer equipment.
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and perform intermediate repairs to specs.
• Assist with onboarding trainee trailer technicians.
• Participate in OE training for repairs.
• Follow shop safety procedures and communicate professionally with staff.

Job Summary

As a trailer technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers and other equipment. Under routine supervision, you must be able to troubleshoot issues and complete all fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

$2000 sign on bonus available for limited time.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspections
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick )
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Sunday - Wednesday 6:00AM - 4:30PM

Starting Pay Range

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $23.85 - $35.75. This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
