Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Technician II in Dallas, TX to perform intermediate maintenance and repairs on trailers and equipment. You will troubleshoot issues, complete work orders, and ensure compliance with company standards and timelines.

The role requires handling preventative maintenance, mentoring trainees, and participating in OEM training, with a focus on safety and customer communication. This is a full-time on-site position at our Dallas facility.

Qualifications

• 2 years of semi-trailer maintenance and repair experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to supply your own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program
• Willingness to work outdoors and across multiple shifts including nights/weekends
• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in trailer maintenance/repair
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and standard repairs on trailer equipment (fuel systems, batteries, engines, transmissions, air brakes, etc.)
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and perform intermediate repairs per specifications and warranty guidelines
• Mentor trailer technician trainees and participate in OE training
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain professional communication with company personnel and customers

Job Summary: As a trailer technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers and other equipment. Under routine supervision, you must be able to troubleshoot issues and complete all fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

Job Description

• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspections
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick )
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
• Sign-on bonus may be available for a limited time. This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
