This senior role requires deep knowledge of trailer systems, DOT inspections, and the ability to mentor trainees; shift availability and outdoor work are expected as part of a busy maintenance operation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair.
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of preventative maintenance and complex repairs.
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and perform repairs to spec and warranty guidelines.
• Participate in OE training for repairs.
• Follow shop safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
• Complete secondary maintenance on escalated repairs.
• May troubleshoot and repair specialized trailer equipment (e.g., refrigerated units).
• Mentor new technician trainees and coordinate shift tasks.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, this position acts as a subject matter expert for Trailer Technicians. You are responsible for performing complex maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment. You must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete all fleet maintenance processes for units to meet J. B. Hunt specifications at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and complex repairs as it pertains trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections


• Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform the most difficult repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders, and exceed company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines


• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs


• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures


• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times


• Complete secondary maintenance on escalated repairs


• May troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair specialized trailer equipment, such as refrigerated units


• May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences


• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes


• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program


• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements


• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent


• EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License


• Advanced welding skills (MIG and stick)


• Knowledge of ABS systems


• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums


• Ability to manage multiple priorities


• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)


• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively


• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)


• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Compensation:

The expected starting pay range for this position: Competitive ranges available. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
