J.B. Hunt Transport in Memphis, TN is seeking an entry-level Trailer Technician I to perform basic maintenance and repairs on trailers, containers, and related equipment under supervision.

You will follow standard maintenance procedures, document work orders, and adhere to safety guidelines while communicating professionally with customers and internal teams. This role requires willingness to work outdoors and across shifts, including nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with 1 year of semi-trailer maintenance/repair experience.
• Must supply basic tools or use toolbox program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of preventive maintenance and basic trailer repairs.
• Perform repairs to spec, complete work orders, follow SRT and warranty guidelines.
• Follow shop safety procedures and communicate professionally.
• Maintain communication with customers and J.B. Hunt personnel.

Job Summary

As a trailer technician I, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment. Under close supervision, you will conduct fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections
• Accurately perform basic repairs up to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick )
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
• Sign-on bonus may be available for a limited time.
• This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
