Job summary

Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is seeking a skilled Trailer Technician to join the Long Beach Shop's Fleet & Maintenance team.

You will inspect, maintain, and repair a fleet of trailers to ensure safety and compliance, performing preventive maintenance and handling repairs on brakes, axles, and electrical systems. Ideal candidates have a minimum of three years of trailer maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and familiarity with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of trailer maintenance or related mechanical experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; diesel/trailer repair training preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT safety regulations and trailer inspection requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of air brakes, electrical wiring, welding.
• Ability to diagnose issues and propose practical repair solutions.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States; pass drug screen, physical, and background check.

TRAILER TECHNICIAN

Location: Long Beach Shop – Long Beach, CA

Office Hours/Days: 0700 - 1630 (M-F)

Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Trailer Technician to join our Fleet & Maintenance team at the Long Beach Shop. The Trailer Technician will be responsible for conducting inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and executing repair work on our fleet of trailers to ensure operational safety, compliance, and efficiency. This hands-on role demands mechanical expertise, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Conduct thorough inspections of trailers to identify and diagnose mechanical and structural issues.
• Perform repairs on trailer components including brakes, axles, lighting systems, suspension, flooring, doors, and air systems.
• Execute preventive maintenance services per company and DOT standards to ensure ongoing compliance and functionality.
• Replace worn or damaged parts such as wheel hubs, landing gear, lights, and mud flaps.
• Maintain accurate service records, including parts used and labor performed, using maintenance software systems.
• Operate shop tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, tools, and equipment.
• Assist in the coordination of parts inventory and restocking.
• Collaborate with the Road Service and Diesel Technician teams as needed for shared fleet repairs and diagnostics.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in trailer maintenance and repair or a related mechanical role.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or training in diesel or trailer repair is preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT safety regulations and trailer inspection requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical wiring, and welding techniques.
• Ability to diagnose issues and recommend practical repair solutions independently.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet repair deadlines.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background check.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Frequently required to stand, bend, crouch, lift, pull, and push during trailer inspections and repairs.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work with heavy-duty tools and parts.
• Exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
• Must follow all shop safety standards and wear appropriate PPE.

Compensation

The Trailer Technician position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour (DOE).
