Job summary

SA Recycling in Georgia is seeking an experienced trailer mechanic to maintain and repair trailer systems, including axles, tires, brakes, and electrical components. The ideal candidate has prior trailer maintenance experience and DOT certifications.

You will perform preventative maintenance, replace worn parts, and ensure compliance with FHWA inspections. A valid license and the ability to pass standard pre-employment checks are required. Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.

Qualifications

• DOT certifications required and FHWA brake/safety inspection eligibility.
• ASE credentials and Welding Certification are preferred.
• Experience with hydraulic repairs is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; pre-employment medical, background, and drug screen.
• Capable of following directions and using basic math.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair all trailer systems to meet DOT standards.
• Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races and associated parts.
• Repair electrical and lighting systems.
• Repair chassis components such as springs, hangers, axles, and sub frames.
• Repair flooring, doors, rails, and trim.
• Repair roofs and panels.
• Repair or service trailer components including axles, tires, and brakes.

Job description

MUST HAVE DOT Certifications for this position. Our ideal candidate should have previous experience as a trailer mechanic.
The trailer mechanic focuses specifically on the maintenance and repair of trailer components, including the trailer's axles, tires, brakes, and electrical systems.

Job Duties will include but not limited to:

• Preventative maintenance and repair all systems on Trailers to meet the standards set forth by DOT
• Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races and associated parts
• Repair electrical and lighting systems
• Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, and sub frames
• Repair mud flap brackets and dolly leg assembles
• Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors and door trim
• Repair roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails
• Experience and knowledge to repair of trailer components, including the trailer's axles, tires, brakes, and electrical systems etc

Key Certifications and Compliance Qualifications:

• Automotive Service Excellence credentials
• Qualification under 48 CFR to perform annual Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) brake and safety inspections
• Welding Certification

• Previous experience hydraulic repairs a plus
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
• Must pass a pre employment medical physical background and drug screen
• Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills
• Mechanic trade school or equivalent work experience
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus

• Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians.
