Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Technician to perform basic maintenance and repairs on trailers, containers, chassis and related equipment. Under supervision, you will follow established standards to ensure equipment meets company specifications.

You will demonstrate safe work practices, maintain clear communication with team members and customers, and participate in the Technician Career Advancement program to grow skills and opportunities within the fleet.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
• Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Able to work outdoors in the elements and across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends if needed

Job Summary

As a trailer technician I, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment. Under close supervision, you will conduct fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent

Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences

• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent

• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes Basic welding skills (MIG and stick )
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Expected Starting Pay Range

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $23.55 - $35.30.

Applicants can be considered for I, II, or Sr. Level Trailer Technician depending on verified years of experience and position availability.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
