Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Technician in Columbus, OH to perform basic maintenance, service and repair on trailers, containers and chassis under supervision.

You will help ensure equipment meets company standards, work on air brake systems, complete work orders, and comply with safety procedures. The role requires basic tools, willingness to work outdoors, and ability to work multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with 1 year of semi-trailer maintenance/repair experience.
• Demonstrate basic skills in maintenance and repair per SRT and warranty guidelines.
• Supply your own basic tools or use toolbox program.
• Willing to work outdoors and across multiple shifts.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks and MS Office familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer equipment, including air brakes and FHWA inspections.
• Perform basic repairs to company and manufacturer specifications and complete work orders.
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain professional communication with staff and customers.
• Adhere to company requirements for standard repair times and warranty guidelines.

Job Summary:

As a trailer technician I, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment. Under close supervision, you will conduct fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

Job Description:

$3,000 sign-on bonus available for limited time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections
• Accurately perform basic repairs up to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts

Preferred Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick )
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26.50 - $39.75
This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
