Job summary

Kelly is seeking a Trailer Technician in Bolingbrook, IL, offering a direct-hire opportunity from Monday to Friday with two shift options. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers, conduct FMCSA/DOT inspections, and diagnose brake and liftgate systems in a safety-focused shop.

A valid driver’s license and basic tools are required. You will gain hands-on experience with dry vans and reefers, collaborate with drivers and other technicians, and advance in a team-oriented

Qualifications

• 6 months of verifiable trailer repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Own a basic set of tools and welding experience (stick, MIG, TIG).
• Able to diagnose ABS/brake systems and be computer literate for diagnostics and documentation.
• Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing physical labor in an indoor shop with occasional outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers (dry van, reefer).
• Conduct FMCSA/DOT inspections to ensure compliance and safety.
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems, including air brakes, ABS, body, and liftgate hydraulics.
• Carry out structural, body, and welding repairs (stick, MIG, TIG).
• Maintain accurate service and inspection records documenting repairs and labor.
• Collaborate with drivers, technicians, and supervisors to support shop productivity and workflow.

What’s a typical day as Trailer Technician? You’ll be:

• Performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers (dry van, reefer).
• Conducting FMCSA/DOT inspections to ensure compliance and safety.

• Can lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in an indoor shop environment with occasional outdoor work.
• Have experience with reefer trailers and liftgate systems (preferred).
• Are familiar with FMCSA/DOT inspection standards and advanced diagnostics (preferred).
• Possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
