Job summary

REK Express Elkhart is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our shop team. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on our fleet of dry van, curtain-side, and flatbed trailers to keep drivers on schedule and customers served reliably.

The role requires hands-on experience with commercial semi-trailers, knowledge of air brakes, electrical systems, suspension, doors, and body components, plus DOT-compliant inspections and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proven experience as a trailer mechanic or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet trailers (dry van, curtain-side, flatbed).
• Diagnose problems quickly and complete quality repairs.
• Document work and communicate with shop leadership and drivers to ensure safety and DOT compliance.
