Job summary

Saia seeks a Trailer Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair tractor-trailers across our nationwide network. You will work with a skilled team in a safety-conscious environment and contribute to on-time operations.

Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and repairing brakes, tires, axles, and electrical systems, while maintaining detailed service records. A HS diploma or GED and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend English to perform the various tasks of the job, including but not limited to: converse with co-workers and management; understand instructions; review reports.

Responsibilities

• Services, inspects, and repairs tractor-trailers.
• Diagnoses failures and makes repairs on mechanical, electrical, and various systems on a trailer.
• Uses hydraulic jacks and hoists to access the underside of trailers.
• Conducts full inspections of trailers to identify issues.
• Tests trailers after repairs to ensure operation.
• Maintains a detailed record of all service and maintenance activities.
• Repairs defective parts such as brakes, tires, axles, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
