Job summary

Utility Trailer of Texas, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Mechanic Apprentice to join our shop team on site in Texas. You will perform basic trailer repairs, assist senior mechanics, and learn welding and cutting techniques while following safety and company procedures.

Candidates should have good communication, be dependable, and able to work varied shifts. A hands-on mindset and basic tool knowledge are essential; training is provided as part of the apprenticeship.

Position: Trailer Mechanic Apprentice

Responsibilities:

• Ability to perform as a mechanics apprentice.
• All minor light repairs to trailers.
• Assist other mechanics.
• Perform welding and cutting.
• Understand and follow operating instructions for various tools and equipment.
• Read reports, technical manuals, and other documents.
• To read and understand all manufacturers’ policies and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records in accordance with Company policies.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures.
• Perform repairs in an efficient and timely manner to meet customer expectations.
• Ability to write concise work orders that mirror work performed daily.
• Follow good housekeeping standards.
• Perform all work in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to succeed in a team environment.
• To continually strive to become more proficient.
• Basic mechanical skills.
• The use and knowledge of shop tools, cutting torch, and welding.
• Must be dependable.
• Have hand tools needed to make major and minor Trailer repairs.
• Work shifts specified by Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
• Be available to work needed Shifts and scheduled days.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
• May also engage in standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
• Due to the open environment of the shop, must be able to work in various weather and temperature
• conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
• Must also be able to tolerate wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to,
• a hard hat, steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles.
• Must be physically capable of performing tasks
