Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Intern for Summer 2027 in Pittsburgh, PA. The role introduces traffic impact studies, roadway design, field views, safety studies, and transportation planning as part of a hands-on internship with supervision.

You will support the team with site grading, CAD design, inspection activities, and construction administration tasks, while gaining exposure to multi-department collaboration and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be enrolled in community college courses or degree program.
  • Civil engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.
  • Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities.
  • Assist Team Leader with all aspects of project scope including site grading, erosion and sediment control design, CAD design and drafting, storm water management design, water treatment, traffic analysis and/or utility design.
  • Assist with field inspections.
  • Be involved with construction administration (RFI/Submittal) responsibilities.

Purpose

Introduction to developing traffic impact studies, designing roadway plans for construction, field views, constructability investigation, safety studies, transportation planning, and traffic signal design.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities.

Do the Work

Qualifications

  • Focus on civil engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred.
