Job summary

The City of Valdosta seeks a skilled technician to install, repair and maintain traffic signal equipment including cabinets, sensors and lighting. The role requires hands-on electrical work, wiring, and data management for traffic operations.

You will troubleshoot components, perform field tests, and respond to after-hours emergencies. Relevant training and Work Zone Safety certification within 1 year are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in traffic signal systems.
• Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment preferred.
• Certification in Work Zone Safety must be completed within 1 year.
• ISMA Traffic Signal Technician Levels I must be completed within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain traffic cabinets, cameras, detectors, and signal lights.
• Troubleshoot system components and problem-solve at bench level.
• Coordinate with GDOT, Traffic Management Center, police, contractors and city departments.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and document work performed.
