Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a skilled Electric/Traffic Signal Technician to install and maintain traffic signals, street lights, and related equipment across Salt Lake County.

The role requires three years of related experience, a valid Utah driver's license, a CDL Learner's Permit within 30 days, and a CDL within six months. Candidates must complete IMSA certifications within 12 months and pass all safety and drug testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah.
• CDL Learner’s Permit within 30 days of hire date.
• CDL Class A within six months of hire date.
• IMSA Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signal Level I certification within 12 months of hire.
• Internal equipment certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Level I IMSA street light certification within 12 months of hire.
• Negative drug test required before starting; subject to random testing.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, installs, and maintains traffic signal controllers, cabinets, pole bases and foundations, mast arms, vehicle detection loops, wiring, and conduit.
• Maintains street lights, school flashers, and radar signs.
• Monitors traffic coordination systems and ATMS systems.
• Coordinates with contractors and power reps to resolve electrical problems.
• Operates boom trucks, line trucks, trenchers, and concrete saws.
• Works with high voltage equipment and testing equipment.
• Prepares daily reports and preventative maintenance logs.
• Performs traffic control and other duties as assigned.
