Job summary

State of Arizona Department of Transportation seeks a Signal/Light/Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain and repair traffic signals, roadway lighting and ITS in Flagstaff. Roles require rapid response within 30 minutes and rotation for 24-hour call-back, including overtime during severe weather.

Positions include advancement through SLATE 1–3 with corresponding hourly rates and a $4,000 hiring incentive. Candidates must meet the listed qualifications and pass pre-employment requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic signals, roadway lighting and ITS basics.
• Ability to use tools, read schematics and follow safety rules.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance and emergency repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, maintenance and repair of traffic signals, lighting and ITS.
• Respond to duty posts within 30 minutes and work rotating shifts.
• Document work and coordinate with crew members during repairs.
• Attend to overtime during hazardous weather; night, weekend and holiday work.
