The Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and ongoing operation of traffic signals, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) electrical equipment, and fiber optic equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Qualified applicants will have excellent troubleshooting skills working with a wide range of traffic signal and ITS electrical equipment. This position works independently and as part of a team to provide optimum levels of service to Yunex Traffic customers.

Responsibilities:

1. Installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signal and ITS systems
2. Servicing traffic signal and fiber equipment by checking, testing, splicing, and replacing faulty components such as LED modules, electronic traffic components, cables, loop detectors, switches, and fixtures.
3. Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing CCTV and MVDS units and DMS signs.
4. Installation of traffic signal, fiber optic, and streetlight cable
5. Receive and follow directions from superintendents and project managers on various tasks needed throughout the shift

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalency
2. Minimum 3-5 years of recent, verifiable experience as a Traffic Signal Technician
3. Current license as Journeyman Electrician can be substituted for experience
4. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, traffic signal plans/specifications, and procedure manuals
5. Valid driver's license and clean driving record
6. Ability to move supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Willingness to work at heights associated with traffic signals and streetlights
9. Ability to pass DOT physical exam and drug test
10. May require bucket truck operator certification
11. Preferred: IMSA Level I or II Traffic Signal Technician Certification, IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification or equivalent
