Job summary

Gerelco Electrical Contractors is seeking an experienced Traffic Signal Technician in Port Saint Lucie, FL. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signal systems, lights, controllers, and related equipment on job sites across the state.

Qualified candidates have a valid CDL Class A or B and at least 3 years operating bucket trucks and related heavy equipment. A strong safety mindset and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL license Class A or B.
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating bucket trucks, loaders, and drill rigs.
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install conduit, wiring, poles, signal heads, controllers, and detectors under supervision.
• Install fiber optics, underground conduit, boxes, and traffic control devices.
• Repair and replace signal control equipment and cabinets; inspect components.
• Maintain and repair vehicle identification and detection systems.
• Coordinate with contractors and agencies to meet standards and codes.
• Perform pre/post vehicle and equipment inspections and assist in site housekeeping.

Gerelco Traffic controls is currently seeking an experienced Traffic Signal Technician.

Essential Functions

• Installation of conduit, wiring, poles, signal heads, controllers, switches, and vehicle detectors, under the direction of a superintendent.
• Installation of fiber optic cables, underground conduit lines, junction boxes, and traffic control devices.
• Remove and repair signal control and auxiliary equipment such as traffic signal controllers and cabinets vehicle and pedestrian head assemblies, and lighting and circuitry devices and systems.
• Adjust, repair, replace, and modify electric, electronic, and mechanical components, controllers,relays, switches, fuses, timers, and other related parts and equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair, vehicle identification and detection systems.
• Coordinate repairs with contractors and government agencies to ensure work is properly completed within standards and codes.
• Assist in the installation of traffic and streetlight cable
• Housekeeping of work area and work vehicles
• Re-stocking of work vehicles or storage areas
• Perform pre and post vehicle and equipment inspections
• Operates and inspects Traffic Division Aerial Tower Trucks as directed.
• Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate vehicles or heavy equipment required to complete given tasks

Work Environment

This job operates on job sites and remote locations. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise is to be expected.

Required Education and Experience

Must have and maintain a clean valid CDL driver’s license. Class A or B

Must have 3 years of prior experience operating equipment such as bucket trucks, loaders, and drill rigs.
