MB HAYNES Corporation in Asheville, NC, seeks a Traffic Signal Technician to install, operate, and maintain electrical, electronic, and digital signal systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and service signal control devices and related equipment on site.

The role requires physical work outdoors in various weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with opportunities for cross training and growth within a 100% employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

• Able to work with diverse tradespeople, inspectors and customers on site.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment used in signal installation and maintenance (dump trucks, bucket trucks, etc.).
• Interpret plans and specifications to ensure correct installation of traffic signal systems.
• Wire, drill, install, assemble and repair signal poles, luminaries and related hardware.
• Install signal cabinets on concrete bases and update controllers or relays as needed.
• Must maintain tools, equipment and assigned vehicle; transport equipment to job sites.
• Perform related duties including cross training as assigned.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Traffic Signal Technician would be to work on the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and digital controlled traffic signal and lighting systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain traffic signal control devices, systems, and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment in signal installation such as dump trucks, air compressors, jackhammers, trenchers, backhoes, bucket trucks, pole trucks, and forklifts
• Interpret plans and specifications to ensure correct installation and maintenance of traffic signal systems.
• Wire, drill, install, assemble, and repair signal poles, arms, heads, push buttons, luminaries, and wire loops.
• Install traffic pole and controller cabinets on concrete bases and changes controllers, conflict monitors, load switches, or relays as needed.
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicle.
• Transport necessary equipment and supplies to and from the work site.
• Perform related duties as assigned including cross training.

• Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.
