Job summary

Escambia County seeks a full-time Traffic Signal Technician to inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot the county's traffic signal systems. The role includes field inspections, timing adjustments, and coordination with the Traffic Management Center to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Responsibilities also cover equipment installation, documentation, and compliance with FDOT standards. A valid driver’s license and basic knowledge of electrical systems are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and specialized training or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of traffic signal timing, electrical work, and safety practices.
• Ability to perform field inspections and use diagnostic tools for signals.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize work, report to supervisors, and respond to utility locate requests.
• Repair, install, maintain, and troubleshoot county traffic signal systems.
• Operate and monitor ATMS within the ITS domain and adjust signal timing as needed.
• Inspect electrical work in signal cabinets and ensure compliance with plans.
• Maintain maintenance records, inventories, and documentation for FDOT.
• Read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and plans; use relevant software and tools.
