Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a semiskilled worker to install and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and pavement markings. You will assist with traffic signal heads, conduit installation, and operate a range of vehicles from light to heavy equipment.

Must have 2 years of relevant experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements within 60 days. Random drug testing applies; pre-employment checks are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of semiskilled experience in installation/repair of traffic control devices or related construction work.
• Must have a valid driver's license at time of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements within 60 days of hire.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Erect, install, and maintain traffic signal support equipment and signs.
• Assist with assembling, repairing, and maintaining traffic signal heads.
• Install underground conduit for traffic signal control and detection equipment.
• Install and maintain pavement markings using paint or thermoplastic.
• Assist with installation of traffic control devices.
• Assist crew with installation/maintenance of signs, signals, and markings.
• Operate vehicles from light pickups to heavy trucks with snow removal equipment.
• Other related duties as assigned by the City.
