Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer/Planner with a traffic and safety focus to join our Florida team. This role supports transportation planning and engineering studies for expressways, corridors, and intersections, with emphasis on safety and efficient traffic flow.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, Florida PE (or reciprocity within 3 months), 5+ years of experience, and proficiency with software like Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS, Python, and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Florida, or able to reciprocity within 3 months.
• Alternative to licensure: AICP certification by the American Planning Association.
• 5+ years of relevant traffic engineering/planning experience.
• Proficiency with software including Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, Vistro, Sidra, CUBE/Voyager, TransCAD, VISUM, ArcGIS, Python, Signal 4 Analytics, IHSDM, HSM worksheets, FDOT CAP-X, and FDOT ICE.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and oversee traffic forecasting, safety, and operational analyses.
• Conduct safety-related services including crash data analysis and countermeasure recommendations.
• Perform multi-modal transportation analyses using Complete Streets practices.
• Work with software like Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS, Python, and CAD tools.
• Prepare written technical reports documenting study results and recommendations.
• Engage with state and local government clients and review agencies to ensure design standards are met.
