Job summary

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is establishing a pool of qualified adjunct and substitute instructors to teach Traffic Safety courses (Point Reduction, Group Dynamics, Multiple Offender). Positions are adjunct and hired per course, with on-site or varying delivery methods, and instructors must live within driving distance of CVTC campuses.

Opportunities may arise per semester with needs for face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • At least 6 months from a conviction resulting in 6+ points on license.
  • At least 1 year from an OWI conviction.
  • 2 years of AODA occupational experience and/or group counseling experience (Group Dynamics).
  • 45 hours of accredited college-level courses in AODA and/or group counseling.
  • 2 years of traffic safety occupational experience or traffic safety education experience; or observe a WTCS traffic safety general class and complete 45 hours of traffic safety studies or accident prevention course.

Traffic Safety Instructor Pool - Adjunct (Part-time)

Location: US-WI-Eau Claire | US-WI-Chippewa Falls | US-WI-River Falls

Overview and Responsibilities

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when adjunct and/or substitute instructors are needed to teach Point Reduction, Group Dynamics, and Multiple Offender courses for the Traffic Safety Program. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, cover letter, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for future adjunct and/or substitute teaching opportunities. CVTC will keep your application on file as a prospective candidate who could potentially fill a position when a need arises. If the need shall arise and review of your application materials result in a decision to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted via the contact information provided on your application.

Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. Courses are taught face-to-face in classroom, lab, or clinical settings; online; or a combination of online and face-to-face. All CVTC instructors are required to meet with students and/or attend meetings on-site on a regular basis. This means that all instructors, including online instructors, must live within driving distance of CVTC campuses.

CVTC adjunct instructors are dynamic partners for both students and the College. An adjunct instructor works with students beyond the classroom to ensure their success, models CVTC core abilities, and demonstrates commitment to excellence in program/course content and delivery. An adjunct instructor is able to work effectively in a collaborative environment; is willing to innovate and change to meet evolving program and industry needs; and demonstrates competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching. Generally, an adjunct instructor will be hired to instruct specific open classes based upon the adjunct instructor's qualifications and availability.

Qualifications
  • Traffic Safety Instructor Qualifications for all Traffic Safety Program classes (Point Reduction, Group Dynamics, Multiple Offender):

    • Valid driver's license
    • At least 6 months from a conviction resulting in 6 or more points on license
    • At least 1 year from an OWI conviction
  • Traffic Safety Instructor Qualifications for Group Dynamics:

    • 2 years of AODA occupational experience and/or group counseling experience
    • 45 hours of accredited college-level courses in AODA and/or group counseling
    • 2 years of traffic safety occupational experience or traffic safety education experience; or observe a WTCS traffic safety general class and complete 45 hours of traffic safety studies or accident prevention course
  • Traffic Safety Instructor Qualifications for Multiple Offender:

    • Group Dynamics instructor qualifications
    • Teach 3 GD classes or have a bachelor's degree or higher in guidance counseling, psychology, behavior studies, or social work
  • Traffic Safety Instructor Qualifications for Point Reduction:

    • 2 years of traffic safety occupational experience or traffic safety education experience; or observe a WTCS traffic safety general class and complete 45 hours of traffic safety studies or accident prevention course
