Job summary

Northwest Traffic Control Services in Pennsylvania is seeking reliable Flaggers / Traffic Control Technicians to help maintain safe traffic flow through active work zones and protect crews, drivers, pedestrians, and the public. This full-time role requires daytime hours Monday–Friday and is based on project needs.

Starting at $19.50/hour for the first 90 days, rising to $21.25/hour thereafter, with increases up to $22.75/hour based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must have valid PA driver’s license.
• Able to pass a drug test.
• Able to stand 8–12 hours in all weather conditions.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English for safety-related instructions and jobsite communication.

Responsibilities

• Control movement of vehicular traffic using signs, hand signals, and flagging devices
• Set up and distribute traffic control signs and markers in designated areas
• Direct drivers through detours and construction zones
• Warn construction crews of potential traffic hazards
• Communicate with crews and supervisors to help maintain a safe work zone
• Monitor traffic flow and remain alert to changing jobsite conditions
• Load, unload, and carry traffic control equipment as needed
• Drive company vehicles as needed
• Follow company safety procedures, jobsite rules, and MUTCD traffic control standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Northwest Traffic Control Services is a certified Women Business Enterprise providing professional traffic safety solutions in accordance with MUTCD standards. We specialize in traffic control planning, jobsite setup, and maintenance of traffic for construction projects. We also provide rental and sales of traffic control equipment, including attenuator trucks, arrow boards, message boards, drums, cones, barricades, and signage.

We are currently seeking reliable and safety-focused Flaggers / Traffic Control Technicians to support roadway and construction projects throughout Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for helping maintain safe traffic flow through active work zones while protecting construction crews, drivers, pedestrians, and the public.

COMPENSATION:

• Starting rate: $19.50 per hour for the first 90 days
• After 90 days, the rate increases to $21.25 per hour
• Additional wage increases may be available based on experience, performance, and qualifications, up to $22.75 per hour

SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time position. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Work hours may vary based on business and project needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Reliable personal vehicle
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Comfortable standing 8–12 hours in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be available Monday through Friday during daytime hours
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English for safety-related instructions and jobsite communication
• Must be dependable, alert, and able to work safely in active roadway environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior traffic control or flagging experience preferred but not required
• Construction, roadway, utility, or outdoor labor experience preferred
• Traffic control certification preferred but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is regularly performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, wet or humid conditions, and active roadway environments. This role may involve exposure to moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, hazardous tools, and traffic control equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, reach, and remain alert to traffic and jobsite conditions. The employee may be required to stand for extended periods and must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed.

TRAVEL:

No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Local day travel may be required based on jobsite location.
